Torbay United Nations Y5/6

On Tuesday the 14th of January, 6 pupils from both year 5 and 6 went to Torquay Boys Grammar for a debate. We were debating about nuclear power, the year 5 pupils (us) were Ukraine, the year 6 pupils were France and the other teams were from Barton Hill School.

Mrs Coverdale and Miss Smith came with us to the debate! First, we sat at our table and read some information about Ukraine and it told us that on April 26th 1986 the worst nuclear disaster happened in one of the factories; they named it Chernobyl.

The USA (Barton Hill) made a deal to give us $750,000,000 if we helped them build stuff.   Japan will give us solar panels and wind turbines if we gave them $400,000,000. We had 50 minutes to decide what we are going to change about nuclear power. After the 50mins we had a break and we had digestives and juice for a snack☺

Ollie spoke for Ukraine and Riley did too. All the teams had a big debate and asked questions about each country and they answered back.  We all had a great time and when we were walking back we saw two bin boxes on the road and one of them were sliding down the road!
